Jack Storms

Jack was born with the eye, and the hand of an artist. His earliest works were comic book illustrations, initially inspired by the Bible stories he listened to in Sunday school. Eventually, those sketches evolved into more contemporary stories of superheroes and characters from high fantasy novels and his own Dungeons & Dragons games. Early on, Jack realized that his hands could create art – but also connection and possibility. His love for creating only deepened as he grew.

Growing up in the Granite State of New Hampshire, Jack Storms found inspiration for his work right in his own backyard. To this day, he finds opportunity and perfection in nature. From Lake Winnipesaukee to Mount Washington, Jack’s lenses are framed by waterfalls, hiking trails, Northeast beaches, and the most alluring sunsets alike.

Jack has high standards for his work. His perfectionism, coupled with his dedication to detail, leads him to constantly reach for the stars in the studio. In fact, Jack has been known to scrap some of his work, relegating it to his “Bone Yard” of sculptures that didn’t make his final cut. However, his innate perfectionism comes with a wonderful perk: his work can’t be copied.

For Jack, art always played a major role in his life. He says, “there was a lot of chaos in my life growing up. This [art] was a calming influence that I could do, create nice things with.” Ultimately, Jack attended art school where he learned and honed his craft, with a vision to his passion into a profession. But it was not that straightforward. Art school had prepared Jack for the technical side of the art world, but there was not much guidance in finding opportunities and employment – but Jack did not lose sight of his dream. He scoured trade magazines, researched industries and opportunities, and then found himself knocking on the door of a nearby artist – and asked for a job! Little did he know, that was the start of his career as an artist, specializing in glass pieces.

According to Jack, artists who lived during the same period often exchanged ideas and elements of each others’ work. Put simply, you needed an art degree to differentiate a Monet from a Manet to a Degas. Though this may have been the case for artists for centuries, it isn’t with Jack – because he invented and innovated many of the concepts he uses in his pieces. This allows him the flexibility to create works of his wildest imagination. He says, “I enjoy playing in that sandbox because I created that sandbox”.

“I enjoyed the mind-hand connection, and having an idea in your head and creating it with your hands.” [When asked what he loves best about what he does]

Jack’s energetic, vibrant spirit is seen in his works. For him, many of his pieces speak to his nature as a nurturing friend, daring thrillseeker, and hard worker. Jack’s art is the trust, purest expression of himself because the medium allows him to use his natural tools, his hands, to speak to his heart, mind, and soul. In his world, artists are unable to make mistakes, though it takes a good eye and skill to rework and create something beautiful out of a supposed mistake.
